In 2019, I, Wiaan, faced frustration with my photography setup during weddings. The neck straps lacked professionalism, style, and comfort. Determined to create something both fashionable and practical, Grizzly Leather was born. Over the following months, I delved into leather crafting, navigating through mistakes, acquiring tools, and spending endless hours perfecting my first camera strap. It was a moment of immense pride.

Recognising an opportunity to cater to the creative community with chic yet functional accessories, I sought a name that transcended borders, thus Grizzly came to be.

Grizzly Leather is not just a brand; it’s a fun-loving entity, weaving humour and puns into the fabric of the photography and videography world. Our vision extends beyond South Africa, aiming to become every photographer’s trusted ally globally.

I remained intimately involved as the brand evolved, crafting the initial 200 straps on our living room floor. Witnessing the company’s growth, forming lasting friendships, and forging global connections fills me with immense pride. All credit goes to God for bestowing this idea and business upon me; I aim to honour Him as my guiding light.

We still need to be done. Teaming up with top manufacturers like TAU South Africa and a talented roster of designers and ambassadors, we are committed to shattering conventions and embracing greatness.
